Sick Day

August 27, 2009

Cole is home sick today. Here he is on our newly completed window seat. I think I might be a bit obsessive about talking pictures of him sleeping! Well, he’s only little for a while.

I am taking a wonderful class at Samford after Sundown right now called Photography in Motion, taught by Billy Brown, a long time photographer of the Alabama Ballet. We have had so much fun over the last couple of weeks photographing several of Alabama Ballet’s fantastically talented dancers. They were so generous to come in for us! Here are some of my favorite images:

They are so gorgeous, and I had such a great time playing with these!

The newborn that I had the pleasure of photographing yesterday was SO sweet.  She slept almost the whole time, and a couple of times I had to put the camera down just to look at this snuggly five pounder.

Mom, here are a couple of my favorites for your sneak peek!

My mom snagged a couple of vintage suitcases for me at a yardsale for the premium price of…free.  Score!

Special Announcement

August 19, 2009

As many of you know, I have been taking photography classes at Samford University for the last year and a half, and working toward a certification in photography in their Samford after Sundown program.

Now, I am so pleased to share with you that I will be teaching a class for the program this fall! The class is for beginners and is called “Photographing Babies and Children”. Even though everyone knows how important it is to capture milestones in the life of your child with portraits, sometimes we don’t realize how important it is to capture all those in between times, by photographing them ourselves. We will be learning tips to better capture all those special moments that occur with children, from a sweet baby face covered with orange squash, to riding tricycles for the first time, and even Prom.

Whether you have a nice point and shoot or a DSLR camera, this class would be perfect for you if you want to improve your photography. Each age of childhood brings with it unique firsts to capture, and different challenges, and we will be covering it all!

If you’re interested in taking the class, registration is now open. It will start in September, and will be a two hour class, once a week for six weeks. Please see the Samford after Sundown site (link below) for more information or to register.  Classes are limited in size and fill up quickly, so if you are interested, register now. I hope to see you there!  https://ceu.samford.edu/metro/CourseListing.asp?master_id=769&course_area=ARA&course_number=124&course_subtitle=00

I had the pleasure of photographing this sweet family yesterday. Newborn MC was just as adorable as she could be, with a great head of hair, and a sweet temperament. Here are a couple of my favorites:

One more of sweet Baby C

August 6, 2009

This one was just screaming for texture, and I loved it so much I just had to blog it:

This little sweetie was a blast today. She didn’t cry at all, just played and played. I just LOVE photographing this age.

This one is really neat. She looks like she is in the middle of a classic ballet routine, but in fact, she is sitting up on mom’s kitchen table, with the painted wall as a backdrop. It is so fun to photograph kids in their own homes!
